The Taos Fall Arts Festival
is excited about this year’s Taos Select, formerly titled “Taos
Invites.” There have been significant changes to the submission
method over the last two years. The board was in favor of a more inclusive
and fair selection process. All artists in Taos County wishing to be
a part of the largest art festival in the area were invited to submit
their works online for the first time. Artists were asked to submit
the actual works to be shown at the festival and not a body or style
of work, this is different than past festivals when the artists would
choose what they wanted to bring after being selected for the show.
This Year’s jurors were:
Shanan Campbell Wells, EDAC, is Principal and Creative
Director of SCW Art Consulting, a firm specializing in creating unique
aesthetic environments through art. Shanan is current director of Sorrel
Sky Gallery in Durango, CO.
Stephanie Magdziak received an MFA in printmaking from
Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA. She is presently producing figurative
bas-reliefs. “I am a representational artist with experience in
drawing, printmaking, painting and sculpture."
Kevin Macpherson is of the country’s leading
plein air painters, he is highly respected among collectors and fellow
artists alike. Kevin is a popular instructor, guest lecturer, and art
juror throughout the country and abroad.

DELIVERY
OF ARTWORK ONLY
ON Monday September 19, 2011, 9 am - 5 pm.
Artist need only to bring their artwork ready for display and any promotional
material on drop off day.
We will have your paperwork ready along with the original images that
were submitted.
Please be sure to have your info and the info about the
artwork attached to the back of the artwork.
Oil paintings must be totally dry to be exhibited. Don't forget
a mini ....

You
may have a representative deliver your art, they must bring a signed
permission letter signed by yourself or a copy of your entry form.
A first for this year’s
Fall Arts Festival is the “Taos Art Colony” group photo at
the KTAO Solar Center. The potentially largest gathering of artists ever
assembled in Taos will include some of Taos’ most famous creative
minds. The public is invited to witness this historic occasion taking
place September 25th at 5:30 pm and talk with the artists who make up
the vibrant creative community. The fun doesn’t end there, at 7:30
pm a dance party and cash bar will kick off this year’s Fall Arts
Festival.
This years show will
have cash awards. A Best of show award of $500, and 4 Juror’s choice
Awards of $100 for both the Taos Select and the Taos Open shows. Opening
night we are bringing back the Peoples Choice Award. The paid reception
for the Distinguished Achievement Award Series will open on Friday the
23rd at 4 pm. Doors are open, free to the public at 6 pm. Please join
us for Taos’ oldest running Art Festival.
